Our reading curriculum is carefully designed to ensure that every child progresses from learning to read to reading to learn. Through Read Write Inc. Phonics, children in the early stages of reading develop secure phonics knowledge, fluency and confidence in decoding words. As pupils move through the school, Pathways to Read provides rich, high-quality texts that deepen comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking and enjoyment of literature. Accelerated Reader supports independent reading by enabling children to choose appropriately challenging books, monitor their understanding and celebrate their reading achievements.

We aim for all pupils to:
