At Rainford CE, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all our pupils. We recognise that every child is unique and may have different needs when it comes to their learning and emotional well-being. To support this, we have created bespoke rooms throughout the school to help pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. In addition, every classroom has its own dedicated nurture area, offering a calm and supportive space where children can feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.
The Nurture Nest is a small sensory room that is available for all children during the day who need additional support with their emotional and mental health.
The Nurture Nest benefits:
Sensory Stimulation: The Nest provides children with opportunities for sensory exploration and stimulation, helping them to regulate their sensory experiences and improve their ability to focus and concentrate.
Calming Environment: The soothing atmosphere of the Nest can help students to feel more relaxed and less anxious, promoting a sense of well-being and emotional regulation.
Improved Concentration: By engaging with sensory activities, students can improve their ability to concentrate, process information, and participate more fully in learning activities.
Emotional Regulation: The Nest provides students with strategies and techniques to help them regulate their emotions and manage stress and anxiety more effectively.
The Nurture Space, based in the Treehouse, is available for all children throughout the whole school day to provide a place where children can practice sharing, turn taking, communication and cooperation in a guided setting, modelling positive interactions in a relaxed and supportive environment. During breaktimes, the activities provided include games, creative play and cooperative tasks which aim to help children to develop key social and emotional skills, led by a trusted adult.
